SplitView is a Chrome extension that lets you display multiple websites side-by-side in resizable panels. This policy explains what data the extension accesses and how it is used.
SplitView does NOT collect, transmit, or share any personal data with external servers. All data stays entirely on your device.
The extension accesses the following data locally only:
| Data | Purpose | Stored / Sent externally? |
|---|---|---|
| Browser history URLs | URL autocomplete suggestions in the address bar | Read locally only — never stored or sent |
| Panel presets (URLs + layout) | Save and restore your split-view configurations | Stored locally via chrome.storage — never sent externally |
| Permission | Why it is needed |
|---|---|
tabs |
Open and manage the split-view tab layout. |
storage |
Save your panel presets locally using Chrome's built-in storage API. |
history |
Provide URL autocomplete suggestions from your browser history when typing in panel address bars. |
declarativeNetRequest |
Remove X-Frame-Options / Content-Security-Policy headers that would otherwise block websites from loading inside split panels. |
scripting / content scripts |
Inject text into AI chat panels (ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, etc.) to enable the broadcast feature that sends the same prompt to all panels at once. |
SplitView does not integrate with any analytics, advertising, or crash-reporting services. The websites you load in the panels are governed by their own privacy policies.
SplitView is a general-purpose browser tool and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from children.
If this policy changes materially, the updated version will be published at the extension's homepage and the "Last updated" date above will be revised. Continued use of the extension after such changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
